HCC: Human Centred Computing

Mission

Our focus is on the interaction between humans and technology, or between humans mediated by technology. We consider theories, and create technologies that understand the end user, and adapt themselves to help the user achieve its goals. We do research in user experience, user modeling, personalization and adaptation, detection of user characteristics, interaction design, gamification and design of smart learning ecosystems.

Relevance

Need for research in human-centric computing appears in society, industry, and academia, where usable technologies are of paramount importance. Companies oriented to end-user services require usable applications that are engaging for users. Personalization and adaptability of interfaces according to users' profile is now a requirement for any successful application, be it on a mobile system or on the Web.
